Important To Know

Effective 1 January 2026, Mastercard is implementing revised standards for the Merchant Monitoring Program (MMP). These updates increase the responsibility toward more strict, proactive, and continuous oversight of merchant activity.

Mastercard rules require that these standards apply to all merchants onboarded on or after January 1, 2026.

An initial scan must be completed prior to the merchant’s first transaction
Merchants must provide full onboarding details including legal names, DBAs, URLs, and required MMSP information
Ongoing monitoring must extend to gated and member-exclusive content
Evidence of the initial scan and continued monitoring activity must be documented
Any issues identified must be reviewed and closed within the mandated 15-day timeframe
